Type Locality and Naming
Along the Chupan-Ata uplift, northeastern outskirts of the city of Samarkand. V.S. Korsakov et al., 1984.
Synonym: Chupanatin Suite, Чупанатинская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Sandstones, siltstone (aleurolites), often volcanomictic, interbedded with silty (aleurolitic) and calcareous claystones (argillites), clay-siliceous slates; tuffs and tuffites of acidic and intermediate composition. Thickness 300-450m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The lower contact is unknown
Upper contact
The upper contact with the Rabindzhan Fm is unclear, possibly conformable.
Regional extent
Within the uplift of Chupan-Ata. Some researchers (460) include the Chupanatin in the composition of the Rabindzhan Fm.

Fossils
In the lower part contains Wenlock graptolites Monograptus aff. flemingi (Salter.), Monoclimacis sp., Cyrtograptus sp.; in the upper Ludlow - Colonograptus colonus (Barr.), Neodiversograptus nilssoni (Lapw.), Lobograptus crinitus (Wood.), L. scanicus (Tullb.) and others (166; Korsakov et al., 1993).
